About The Author

Ernest Hemingway was a renowned American novelist, short-story writer, and journalist who won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1954. He was born on July 21, 1899, in Oak Park, Illinois, and began his writing career as a reporter for The Kansas City Star. He served as an ambulance driver in World War I and was wounded in action. His experiences in the war influenced his later works, such as A Farewell to Arms (1929).
Hemingway was part of the “Lost Generation” of expatriate writers and artists who lived in Paris in the 1920s. His first novel, The Sun Also Rises (1926), established him as a leading figure of modern literature. He married four times and had three children. He traveled extensively and covered various conflicts, such as the Spanish Civil War and World War II. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and bullfighting.
